Café de Trojan

The 2015-2016 academic year has been a year of change for the Culinary program at YVHS. The new instructor Nicole Aguayo, along with fellow collaborating teacher Crystal Sheehan, joined together in creating the first ever dine-in restaurant on the YVHS Trojan campus. Incorporating the CTE standards and Ms. Sheehan’s experience at Eisenhower High school in Rialto CA, the duo opened the Café de Trojan for staff to experience the luxury and convenience of dining on campus. Thanks to the staff’s support, Culinary students are able to get hands on learning experience for crucial learning outcomes such as teamwork, workplace safety, cash handling, critical thinking, effective communication, time management, cost analysis, purchasing and inventory control, to name a few. Enhancing the culinary management aspect of this program and aligned with the career-planning learning outcome, students are given the opportunity to establish everything necessary to open the café, including budgeting, meal planning, preparing, and serving. Through this realistic setting, students are given the opportunity to gain real-world work experience without ever leaving campus.

FREE ACT Tutoring Course

TutorMe was started by USC and Stanford grads looking to change education. We were unsatisfied with the quality and high cost of available test prep courses, so we decided to do something about it. We just released our ACT course last month and we have already partnered with dozens of high schools across the country. The results have been overwhelmingly positive.

Remember, this course is being offered to our entire school for absolutely no cost.
